When I recommend the South Valley, I do it with true excitement. Because not every traveler dares to step off the typical path—but those who do come back transformed, carrying a different kind of energy. Here, there are no crowds. There is silence. There are temples where water still flows as it did centuries ago. There are small churches, yet inside, they feel as vast as the sky itself.

We begin in Tipón, where water sings and enchants as it flows through terraces and canals built with a perfection we still don’t fully understand. For the Incas, this was a sacred place—and when you see it, you understand why.

Next, we explore Pikillacta, a Wari citadel that seems to sleep among the hills, but speaks to you if you listen. It’s older than Machu Picchu, and walking through its walls makes you feel like part of something much greater.

Then, we stop at the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas. Your eyes can’t help but rise to the ceiling, completely covered in 17th-century frescoes, and in an instant, silence turns into awe. Everything here overflows with art, faith, and spiritual power. The golden altars shine as if they were still alive, the murals speak without words, and every corner carries symbols that fuse the indigenous and Christian worlds. One of the most striking murals is called The Path to Heaven and Hell, which depicts the duality of the human soul. It’s powerful, symbolic, and deeply moving.

Finally, we visit La Mano de Huaro at the Cielo Punku Viewpoint: a giant hand sculpture extending into the open air, symbolizing the union between earth and sky. Standing on it feels like a modern ritual of connection with Pachamama and the universe. From up there, the South Valley stretches like a sea of greens and ochres, dotted with quiet villages and mountains that seem to be asleep. The air is clean, the silence is pure… and the moment is unforgettable.

• Tipón Archaeological Complex: Tipón is an impressive example of Inca hydraulic engineering. Here you’ll see water channels that still flow with millimetric precision, surrounded by green terraces and perfectly carved stone walls. A sacred place to connect with water, the source of life.
• Pikillacta: An ancient pre-Inca citadel belonging to the Wari culture. Its aligned streets and stone walls offer silent testimony to a civilization that existed long before the Incas. Walking through Pikillacta is like traveling back in time to the oldest and lesser-known Cusco.
• Andahuaylillas – The Sistine Chapel of the Americas: A hidden gem of Andean baroque art. From the outside, a humble church; inside, an explosion of colors, frescoes, gold leaf, and symbols blending the indigenous and European worlds. A visit that is both moving and unforgettable.
• Huaro Hand – Cielo Punku Viewpoint: For those who wish to continue, we’ll ascend to the Cielo Punku viewpoint. From here, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the South Valley and take amazing photos on the Huaro Hand, a giant sculpture pointing to the sky as a symbol of connection between human beings, the earth, and the divine.
